SXSW 2011: The Final Day

Let's start with some Heavy Metal, Austin - style.

Sarah Jaffe does a blistering set at The Ghost Room.

Suuns @ Barbarella's

...And You Will KNow Us By The Trail Of The Dead.........

In to Swan Dive to see Owen Pallett and his amazing violin.

Then into Klub Krucial to see Grouplove.

Peckerheads to see Ezra Thurman and the Harpoons. The afternoon is sliding away....the last day is rocketing by....

To add to the museums, bars, coffee shops, hotel foyers, conference rooms, cafes, car parks, music halls, comedy clubs, tents, rooftops and restaurants, it is time to see a show in a garage forecourt.

And it needs to be done and dirty bluesy rock n roll by the likes of J. Roddy Walston and The Business in the eighty degrees Austin sun, just the thing for the casper the ghost like Scottish.

Then to the mad country rocker/white rapper Astronautilus, who you will all be hearing a lot about I feel, one of my Must Sees. now standing at 34.....

A surprisingly great pop set by Jukebox The Ghost.

This year's Drive By Truckers by The Greenhornes..

Then we take it up a notch with three BRILLIANT shows in a row., all toppest picks. To Emo's Jr to see Delicate Steve, a guitar virtuoso.

Then one of the highlights of all SXSW for me, Family Of The Year. a BuckinghamNicks for 2011, just stunning

A brilliant bit of street art, and to the left of it some painting of Barbarella time Jane Fonda _ just realised, its painted outside the Barbarella club door, of course.

Inside Swan Dive, we see the finest from Denmark, Alcoholic Faith Mission, not only brilliant but selling vinyl copies of their debut album, You have to love that.

Great little venue, here we see a perfect execution of the Swan Dive.....

Then a mad pedicart race to Mellow Johnny's (lance Armstrong's Bike Shop)

Where the simply mad as a hatter Extra Action Marching Band are tearing the place up.

You do not watch, you are in the show constantly.

It has it all.

You had to be there.

Role Reversal, I am now on the stage, the band is the crowd!!!!

Dash back to Speakeasy to see I Got You On Tape....the second last band of SXSW 2011 and my 40th Must See - so I saw 40 of my list of fifty, which was not too bad, as well as another 37 shows......

And to finish,Australia's Boat People, wave farewellll

It's over. It was not too bad, maybe just sensational. But then it always has been. There were a lot of us there this year. As well as Neil, Simon,,Monika, Dave and Perry, here are Rohan, John, Al, Stacy, Jenna and I.

I might go again.
